During this project on the community issue, I had the chance to interview a few people to find out what there personal thoughts on Gun Control were. Below, I have their name and a significant quote they said, that I thought was important to my research.
Mrs. Belinda Long
Mrs. Long is a Medical Assistant instructor at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). I interviewed her because there has been talk about laws being passed, that would allow teachers to carry a firearm in class. I wanted to hear her thought on the topic and her views on Gun Control. ¨The laws wouldn’t affect much of anyone in terms of how people were getting guns because they are going to get them anyway. Like the war on drugs, there may be someday a war on guns,"(Long). To me, Mrs. Long meant that people who are desperate to retrieve a gun, for whatever matter, will be able to get it, just how they are illegally receiving drugs. This was relevant to my research because it shows how people will always will find a way to get a gun for whatever matter.
Mr. Edward Martin
The reason why I interviewed Mr. Martin was because he is a retired Navy General. I thought his views on Gun Control were very relevant to my project. I really liked how he talked about how the National Rifle Association (NRA) needed to step up and take more action. ¨There’s no question (gun management or safety classes), they would improve everybody’s chances of good gun management for that person. I think the NRA needs to do more of that, I think the states need to do more of that. They should make it a requirement, if you want a permit, if you want a gun, you have to show the certificate from graduating from basic school, like a driver’s license,¨ (Martin). He made a very great statement that I could use to help with my research.
